The Beginning

I remember when I first joined LinkedIn 21 years ago. It was truly revolutionary and new. In its its infancy, it was exciting to be part of a growing network of career minded users who shared their most unique experiences and ideas.

Over the years, I have used LinkedIn to not only land my next gig but to promote products, webinars, recruit talent, and advertise. All of it together is a good showcase of function and promotion to specialized groups of people you want to get in front of.

While I've used LinkedIn in various ways its important to realize that it's primarily a recruiting site where opportunity and recruiter are joined together with qualified candidates. Regardless of your intent, here are a few ways in which to increase your followers.

How to Increase Followers

There are several ways to grow your followers on LinkedIn, but some of the most effective methods include:

Create high-quality, engaging content: Share valuable insights and information in your industry, and make sure your posts are well-written and visually appealing.

Networking: Connect with people in your industry and engage with their content. Follow influencers and thought leaders in your field and participate in online discussions and groups.

Optimizing your profile: Make sure your profile is up to date and includes keywords relevant to your industry. Use a professional headshot and customize your LinkedIn URL to make it easy for people to find you. Posting content on relevant groups is also effective for narrowing down potential followers specific to your expertise or interests.

Leveraging LinkedIn features:
Use LinkedIn's features to your advantage, such as endorsements, recommendations, skills, authoring articles.

Building relationships: Follow people in your target audience and engage with their content. Share their content on your page and comment on their posts.

Utilizing sponsored content: Invest in LinkedIn sponsored content to reach a larger audience, drive website traffic and generate leads.

Measuring and analyzing your progress: Use LinkedIn analytics to track your follower growth and engagement, and adjust your strategy accordingly.

It's important to note that growing followers on LinkedIn takes time and effort, so be consistent and persistent in your efforts. Also, avoid purchasing followers, as it can harm your reputation and LinkedIn may penalize you for it.
